The tour...

As the pilgrims did before us, we’ll walk down streets from where you’ll have views (between the old brick houses and the Renaissance palazzos) of the rich, varied countryside around San Miniato. We’ll continue to the palazzo where Napoleon stayed (his mother’s family’s roots are here) and then to the amazing cathedral, with a simple façade that contrasts with the baroque decoration inside. Along the streets, we’re aware not only of the wonderful truffles… but also the unique atmosphere of an unspoiled transit town, with wonderful views of the dense woods leading to ancient stopping places. Gastronomy is obviously an important aspect, with high quality local wines and extra-virgin olive oil, a chocolate factory, a very famous butchers’ shop and above all, the queen of the dining table – truffles.

Ideas...

It takes half a day to visit San Miniato and you can combine it, for example, with another half-day in Pisa, or perhaps the village of Vinci which is very close by. Otherwise, there are lots of farms where you can have lunch or simply a wine-tasting with some snacks, with a Tour Operator. Ask me for more information.
